CAREER FAIR...WELL DONE STUDENTS!
We just wanted to say a big well done to all our fourth, fifth and sixth years who attended the career fair on Monday night. You were all brilliant! Everyone was asking questions and collecting information. The Past Pupils were really impressed with all your questions. They are really kind to come in and give up their time and it was great to see you asking questions and finding out about their courses. The feedback from the Parents' Association was excellent. You were learning interview skills and improving your communication and getting tips on improving your Curriculum Vitaes. The students really benefited and enjoyed their interviews. Many thanks to all those who were involved. Trinity, UCD, DCU and NUI Maynooth attended. DIT, ITT, NCI and IADT also were there. All CAO Colleges around Dublin came and we also had three PLC Colleges and SOLAS. The Admission Officers were terribly impressed by the level of questioning and genuine interest that the students had. WELL DONE EVERYONE!

Subject Choice For First Years..
We were happy to meet up with the first years and chat about subject choice. It is important that the students do their research. All the first years have been lucky enough to do taster modules in the seven option subjects. This has meant that they have got the opportunity to learn more about the content of the subject and meet teachers to learn more about what the subject involves.
- MATERIALS TECHNOLOGY WOOD (WOODWORK)
- METALWORK
- TECHNICAL GRAPHICS
- MUSIC
- ART
- HOME ECONOMICS
- BUSINESS
Many students have picked up the information sheets from the First Year Head's office and the link to this information was posted up on google classroom.
Students have an information evening on Tuesday 16th October. The link for the information sheets is below in case you have not already accessed it.

GUIDANCE SCHEDULE
DATS testing with the fourth years will be held on October 4th.
Following this, one to one meetings will be set up for all the fourth year students. Results of the DATS are just one part of the jigsaw of information used to support students when choosing their Leaving Certificate subjects. Students will get a report showing the strongest areas and parents receive the actual scores in the post. We look at the subjects students enjoy, do well in and also the requirements for courses they may be interested in. Students get the opportunity to do taster modules in most subjects during transition year. We do the REACH online career program with our students and this helps our students to gain an insight into careers available as well as completing a variety of interest, personality and values tests. Work experience is the perfect opportunity to gain further insight into careers that they may be interested in.
CAREER FAIR AND MOCK INTERVIEW NIGHT FOR SENIOR STUDENTS TAKES PLACE ON MONDAY 26TH NOVEMBER.
The past pupils set up advice clinics to give information about the courses that they are doing. Many Colleges will attend and set up stands and be available for questions. The Parents' Association organise Mock Interviews for our senior students. This helps our students improve their interview skills which is really important if applying for jobs, UCAS, EUNICAS, PLCs or restricted entry courses.

talks. Trinity College have information days on engineering, science and
computing. Career trips should be carried out during weekends and evenings.
Good luck with all your research. The more talks you
attend and career research you carry out, the better equipped you are to make
an educated decision about the career/ course you want to pursue!
Happy researching!

TERM THREE...SUMMER TERM
TERM THREE!!!
TY CAREER WEEK WAS A REAL SUCCESS. WE VISITED DCU, TCD, UCD, ITT AND NUI MAYNOOTH. THE FOURTH YEARS WERE BRILLIANT AND IT WAS A VERY INFORMATIVE WEEK.
ALL FOURTH YEARS HAVE MADE THEIR SUBJECT CHOICES AND ARE HAPPILY FINISHING UP THE SUMMER TERM AND GETTING READY FOR FIFTH YEAR IN SEPTEMBER.
ALL FIFTH YEARS ARE NOW HAVING ONE TO ONE MEETINGS AND GETTING THEIR CAREER PROFILE BOOKLETS EXPLAINED TO THEM INDIVIDUALLY. THESE HAVE BEEN GENEROUSLY FUNDED BY THE PARENTS' ASSOCIATION.THESE BOOKLETS PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH AN INSIGHT INTO THEIR VALUES, SKILLS, INTERESTS, PERSONALITY AND APTITUDES. THEY PROVIDE CAREER AREAS OF INTEREST AND LINKS TO ALL THE RELEVANT COURSES. MANY THANKS TO THE PARENTS' ASSOCIATION FOR PROVIDING THIS EXCELLENT RESOURCE FOR OUR STUDENTS. WE ARE HOPING TO PROVIDE CAREER LECTURES DURING THIS TERM ALSO.
BEST OF LUCK TO OUR SIXTH YEARS WHO ARE BUSY STUDYING AND DOING ORALS AND PRACTICALS. SOME SIXTH YEARS MAY BE USING THE CAO CHANGE OF MIND SYSTEM WHICH OPENS IN EARLY MAY. WE WILL BE HERE TO SUPPORT YOU IF NEEDED. ALL SIXTH YEARS HAVE CAO/ PLC/UCAS/EUNICAS APPLICATIONS COMPLETED AND ARE NOW GOING THROUGH THE PROCESS OF INTERVIEWS AND COMPLETING THE EXAMS. WE WILL HERE TO SUPPORT YOU IF NEEDED WHEN YOU GET YOUR OFFERS AND WHEN YOU ARE CHOOSING YOUR COURSES.

CAO
The CAO deadline is coming up. Sixth years should all be meeting their guidance counsellor and filling in their forms. Please register and fill in your forms at home and then we can help you with any additional course ideas when you meet us. It is good to double check everything. It is important to note that the initial deadline is January 20th. The application fee is 30 euros and if you wait until after this date, the price increases to 45 euros. The final deadline is February 1st. Many students have completed the forms and have level eight courses chosen and level six and sevens also. Please remember to have a back up and do not put anything down that you have not researched in detail. We will help you with back up ideas and it is important to put a lot of time and effort into this research. DARE applicants will get additional paperwork organised with us asap. The final deadline for sending in information for HEAR and DARE is April 1st. All students will have received letters from the Guidance Team about what is needed for Section C of the DARE form. All the best...
